UPCOMING PROJECT: Feelin' Japan

Firefighter trucks go through a residential area ...
Unless you've been under a rock for the past month, I'm sure you've heard of the catastrophic earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear situation that recently hit Japan. I was browsing the web earlier and came across some strong photos that I felt were worth pursuing for my upcoming project. I feel that God is leading me in this direction because I really feel for Japan right now, and I've been praying about what to go for next. So I will be collecting impactful Japan aftermath photos and redrawing them in my own incomplete style. I'm hoping to capture the emotions of the individuals that I'll be drawing, and that the viewer of my drawings sort of feel what that the individual maybe be experiencing. The drawing will be pastel on toned paper. And I will be posting the progress of the work as I go along. Who knows, I might even go back to using oil pastels again : /

Stay tuned for more details. And please be praying for Japan

INSPIRATION: David Kassan

David Kassan has to be one of my biggest inspirations as an artist. I stumbled upon his artwork last year while searching through the magazine section at Barnes and Nobles. One of his charcoal drawings was featured as the front cover of Drawing Magazine. Since then, I have been in AAWWW of his work. His cross-hatching skills are AMAZING!!!! He works primarily with portraits but his mediums range from oil paint to ipad apps. Check this guy out, he's a BEAASSSTTTT!!!!
